Just like any other day except it is wetter today than yesterday. So I am stuck at home with Hadi Johan since we are both sniffy. I thought it is best that we stay indoors even though there's a list of activities and competitions today and tomorrow in the "big" shopping mall called SMS.
Guess it is just not meant for us today.
I just made curry fried rice. It is so spicy that I had to eat it with Kicap Manis ABC that I bought from Denmark Chinatown Market for 35kroner a bottle. It tasted like a malay curry then but still very tasty. I am looking forward to dinner tomorrow night at Ivan and Sharon's place. Wonder what it will be like for Hanus since he only eat what he like which means they have to okay the menu with him first. They did that already so there's not much choice left. It's got to be between beef or lamb. We both have our likes and dislikes you see.
And on sunday we are invited to a confirmation lunch. Lucky we got a "babysitter" for that. Well, sort of.
Confusing...........no need any more explanation, just mean tears of the world in malay

Thank you anyway .-{{
No Good Lucks in the world would be enough for me to get the job from yesterday interview.
The moment I step into the interview room, I saw a lady with a "nah, not for me" look sitting and looking so uninterested in what I have to say or answer or even look. Don't know why. Maybe she has seen me somewhere before? Maybe I have step on her toe somewhere before?
Maybe she didn't get any??? You never know.
I gave it my best shot though even though sitting in that chair in the Principal's office, I knew that this lady next to me will say no to whatever positive things the Principal or the Union leader seen in me! I knew the reply I would get about the job before I leave the room yesterday actually.......call it intuition but I think this is bigger than intuition. The moment the Principal asked if any of them or me have any questions to ask me, this grumpy hostile woman just shook her head. That's what give it away.
The College Principal called earlier at 12:30am. He informed me that they have hired someone else and that they all agreed that I have too much on my hand already at home (pertaining to my handicapped son, my tiny kids and my blind, aging, needy mother in law). So there.
I am disappointed but I'll get over it. They don't know what they are missing. That's all I can say for it.
Thanks for all the encouragement I got girls!!!

nervous
Not sure why but I am quite nervous now. I will be going to the interview at 3pm and hopefully I will get the answer straightaway instead of being made to wait as they usually do here. You see, I am nervous because the interviewer will be conducting the interview in faroese langauge and I will be conversing in english with some faroese in between. I am not totally comfortable speaking in faroese language when I have to express something about myself in complete sentences you see. Besides, who wouldn't be nervous when the interviewers are a school principal, the manager of the worker's union and the canteen manager??? I am not sure what to tell them either.
Please wish me luck!

Modified popiah by sunday
Remember I made egg spring rolls? Well, I have tried out many different types of fillings. Even tried them baked in the oven instead of deep-frying. Liked them all the same! Yummy!!!
On sunday, Sharon came to visit so I quickly baked a green banana cake an hour before she arrived and made some more of my homemade popiah but this time, I make it taste like samosa. MmMm..it tast so good. It really taste of samosa filling with the malay style kuih dadar skin. I can't get popiah skin here you see. You have to make it with whatever you have at home. I made mine with an egg, some salt and plenty of water. The more water you whisked in, the thinner and crispier it is.
So on sunday, Sharon stayed with me as Ivan was the commentator for the local football game here and then he came over for a visit before going out to a friend's house to watch a game of football. He like Brazilian football. So Sharon had dinner with us and watch some movies while I put my children to bed. It was a nice sunday for me.

Jana Maria
I think the toilet training with Jana Maria is going somewhere at last. She finally BO in the toilet yesterday. Maybe it was because Janita was there and they played going to toilet quite a few times. 3 pairs of wet undies.what do you think??
Nathalia and Rósa (my goddaughter same age as Dánial, born day after his birthday) came over for a visit here for about 15mins yesterday to play with Janita and Jana Maria. They got thrown out at 1845hours as it was time to prepare Jana Maria for bed. I managed to quickly brush her teeth before hearing her snores at 7pm. Man was she tired! So I was right to ask the children to leave then.
Weird girl she is. She like the small little baby doll that she got as her birthday present from her uncle Sámal and goes everywhere with that doll, even sleep. But she don't give a hoot to any of the dolls that we bought for her be it a big one or the one that she always wanted. Last night, before she goes to sleep, she ask my husband who was going downstairs to borrow a remote control (That's totally another long story) to send her regards to her uncle Sámal!

haircut
The weather is still very bad. Maybe it is the aftermath of the hurricane Rita that strayed over to the Faroe Islands, I think??
Anyway, I am still going out at 1300hrs. That's because I have an appointment at the salon for a haircut. And why am I going for a haircut you may ask?
Well, that is because I have to impress some people. Well actually not really that. You see, I applied for a job about 3 weeks ago and I got a call from them to come down for an interview tomorrow at 1500hrs. Since I badly needed a haircut (my last hair cut was in middle of April) so I thought why not now. I was lucky enough to get an appointment today as I only made the call today at 1000hrs.
I think I'll go for a very short hair. So I can wait till after New Year before my next cut?? Not sure. Besides, my mother in-law's grandson from her first son is having confirmation this sunday. Sharon and Ivan are inviting us for dinner over at their place on saturday night. Wow.......sure looks like many good reasons for a haircut now.

movie
Last night, I came home at 12:30am. The movie that we watch was so hilariously funny! I laughed so much that my sides hurt and my tears drop! It was "40year-old Virgin".
I really had a nice time yesterday. I mean, in the day was lunch with Kristina and Putri. In the evening we watch movie together and then we walk over to Cafe Jinx (my usual hangout) and had "ís kakao" (which is ice cream chocolate drink actually). Then I called Hanus to pick me up.
Now I am getting ready to go out to watch "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" at 8:45pm. Time now is 8:15pm so I better rush as I have to walk there. My kids already went to bed at 6:50pm so I figure that Hadi Johan might wake up just after midnight if he get hungry. Otherwise he might sleep throughout actually since he did not catch any wink in the daytime today and he has flu you see. So that might make him sleep more.

outside my window
I just snap this at 2:40pm. To the left side from my window you can see 2 russian fishing trawlers near the torshavn harbour.
The right hand side of the window shows the school and the vast empty space in the middle is our piece of land. My younger brother in law use to have sheep and geese but he have slaughtered them a year ago. He keep his horses there now.
Today is a very rainy day. I actually wanted to snap a pciture of the strong wind and the downpour but just as I got the camera out, the sun peek a bit from the thick clouds so it wasn't as dark as it was 10mins ago.
No Movie at 1300hrs for me
Last night was a bad night for Jana Maria. She felt feverish and was very cranky. I think her eyes are a bit swollen this morning due to lack of sleep. She cries often over nothing but she insisted on going to "school" (her daycare that is) saying that she is well. So we got her ready and Hanus drive her off at 10am.
Next is Danial. He will be spending two nights with the "umlætting family" in Vestmanna. Una was supposed to come and pick him up at 11:30am but I didn't knew that at first you see. I thought it was supposed to be 10:30am so I was panicking by 10:50am. Not knowing what had happened. I thought that maybe she forgot to tell me about the change of plan or maybe she will come at 4pm instead. You see, like I wrote yesterday, I had planned to watch "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory" at 1pm with my husband at the board members of the film classification office. Anyway, it turn out that they are going to watch "The 40year old virgin" instead. I would have like to watch that too actually. It's just that I have a lunch date with Kristina at Putri's house. That was one of the reason why I was panicking by 10:50am. You see, I was not ready then. Hadi Johan was not ready then either and I was supposed to walk and wait at the bus stop up the hill near my house at 11:30am.
Anyway, I managed to contact Joan (Danial's daytime careworker) and she confirmed that Una will pick Danial up at 11:30am so I can get ready. Just when I put the phone down, I saw Kristina walking with her 2 year old son Karl downhill towards my house. Lucky for me, she came here so I got time to get changed and she dressed Hadi Johan in the warmsuit and we get Hanus to drive us as it was getting late.
We reach Putri's house at 12pm just as we planned so it was good. Remember about the movie I was supposed to watch?? Hanus was supposed to pick me up at 12:55pm so that I can watch but he did not turn up so I end up staying longer in Putri's house chatting with her recently unemployed husband. He is a very nice young man. Putri had cooked so much food. She made spicy ikan bilis kicap, sayur terung masak kicap manis, bihun goreng, meatballs, egg spring rolls and steamed rice. I ate so much that when it was time for coffee, I cannot bring myself to eat the ice-cream dessert with chocolate sauce. And my favourite dessert is ice-cream!!!
Hadi Johan slept when it was time for me to go home. Putri's husband drive us home before driving Putri and Kristina to their work place.
Before we leave, Putri and Kristina made plan to watch "the 40yr-old Virgin" at 9:15pm tonight. So I better called Hanus and get him to booked the ticket for us.

walking in the rain
Yes it has been raining all day for the past 4 days in a row here in the faroe islands, and that is weird indeed. So I decide enough of staying cooped up in the house. I prepared Hadi Johan and myself after lunch, went out for a very nice and relaxing stroll along the sea heading towards the city central aiming towards the town library. Yesterday when I went to fetch Jana Maria home, she had asked me to get her a story book, Pippi Long Stocking!
So I thought it is cheaper to borrow then to buy as she already has so many of them.
In the library, I found many interesting books, cassette tapes, videos and DVDs even for the visually handicapped people. I borrowed something for Danial as well so hope he will like the story that I chose. It is also by the same author that wrote Pippi Long Stocking.
After the library visit, I walked on to the shopping centre called "Handilskjarnin" to look at some sales on children's clothing. Found a nice jacket and pant suit for Danial at reasonable price. Not bad so far thought I. The walk in the rain proved to be a good trip for me. I went to buy a snowsuit for Hadi Johan. It is so cute, it even got sort of Rabbit ears sewn on to the hood! It cost a lot but it has good quality so I went ahead and bought it for him. In the harsh weather in Faroe Islands, one must always own a very good quality snowsuit.
After this I continue my walk in the rain and visited my husband in his office to show off my shopping therapy outcome. He asked me to look around for a new mouse for our computer at home as it is faulty so I ended up walking again to another shopping centre this time. They had only one type and nobody had any time to entertain me (yes, you never get any service from the sales assistant over in this island. They are not train in customer service whatsoever. Not only that, they cannot handle more than two customer even if the first customer are quiet and have been looking at the same product for more than an hour. Believe me- I've lived here for 6 years now!!!) So off I go out pondering on what to do next. My husband suggest that I might as well go treat myself to a cup of hot cocoa after all that walking in the rain!.
Not such a bad idea afterall! I went ahead and pamper myself with a greek salad with bun, ice-cream, hot chocolate, and french fries from Sunset Boulevard.
And as if the walking in the rain wasn't enough this afternoon, I went out walking with Sharon in more rain and windry condition at 7:45pm to go to Cafe Jinx for a glass of delicious ice-cream chocolate drink. My usual order every week! We decide to go for a movie and the only thing left to watch was "Kungfu Hustle" as the rest are too scary for me or we've seen them before. By the way, I really dressed Sharon up so well for our walk as I don't want her to be sick or anything like that since she's still quite a "virgin" to the faroese harsh weather condition. I gave her my own knitted wooly hat since it suit nicely with her knitted faroese sweater. She had forgotten to bring it so I gave her also another faroese knitted sweater. I lend her my own knitted scarf as well so she looked pretty warm and cosy in all that. The only thing she refused to wear was gloves.
By the way, the movie was fun but totally waste of time if you are looking for something serious because this is just supposed to be making a goof at many movies I think.
We decide at 2230hrs that it was not a weather to walk home back since the rain is worse with the strong wind so we called my husband to drive us home. And now I am sitting here updating this.
ps: I am going to watch "Willy Wonka's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" on friday at 1300hrs with the board of censorship people! Can't wait for it. Hanus has to pick me up from Putri though as I am invited to her house for a lunch date at 1200hrs.

what have I been doing?
Let's see.....
I have been whistling and singing despite my sore and itchy throat and occupying my time with cooking and washing.
I entertained guests everyday (oops....except for sunday) since last wednesday.
I have been toilet-training Jana Maria (yet again) and frankly, I am not sure where this is going.
I am (I can't believe it will work actually) also toilet-training Dánial with great difficulty. No success whatsoever. He only come in the toilet to get the "bribe" and sit for about 2mins and off he run to "play" in his own world.
I tried miserably to sleep well despite my insomnia but failed each time.(if you can understand what I mean coz I think I may sound a bit confusing to you over here).

makan day
Last friday, I invited some friends over for lunch at my place. The menu was going to be Hot Madras Chicken Curry with Cucumber & Pineapple salad. The time was not determined as according to 2 of my guest.....they are not sure what time they can come or even leave. Anyway, to make a long story short.........They sort of disappoint me greatly on that day with their behaviour. It was supposed to be Sharon's turn to enjoy her choice of food at my place. As she is indian, she get to pick what she like to have or cook. Two of my indonesian friends spoilt it by adding sugar in her curry and also chicken stock in her "salt only" original curry. They complained so much about the potatoes not peeled, and that it will add more time to cook if potatoes are added and make a fuss about how much potatoes are added. I was so ashamed of their behaviour actually. While Sharon was still frying the "pappodums", these two girls start attacking the rice and what I would called not really finished curry by themselves. They gobbled it up with the chicken flying out of their hands and dropping onto their laps and rice dropping all over their plates and on the floor. Maybe this is how they eat and behave in other people's houses in Indonesia when one are guests??? This is not the first time I invited them over. At first I thought that maybe they were "making themselves at home" at my place that they behave like that and would not do so when introduced to strangers..... I was wrong. They behave even worse in front of Sharon. Sad to say, Sharon did not get a good impression of them. She thought that they lack table manner and social skills. I completely agree 2000% with Sharon!
I'm back
Yes I'm back today. My ADSL router still cannot work after 3 days and my husband couldn't wait any longer to read daily liverpool football news so he went ahead and buy a new router. So now we are back online. More on what has been hapeening since last friday later. Busy now. Glad to be back and thanks for reading.

forced to be away
Hi to all who are reading this now. I have got a bit of a bad news for me, maybe for you if you do keep track of my blog (hopefully as I don't want to be considered boring.hehehe). This morning, I found out that I am not able to use the internet at my home computer as Dánial had pissed all over the router (the black box that connect to the broadband) and up till now, it is not working. You might be wondering how then am I able to post this. Well, I went out walking with Hadi Johan and stopped by my husband's office and ask if I can borrow it for a while to update. So there! I am not sure for how long I'll be bored with no mean of "letting out" but hopefully my router will sort of "wake up" and work again or I might have to purchase a new one when I can afford it. So please be patient and kindly wait for me to reappear..okay???

busy day
I was hoping to get some of my much needed sleep earlier today but nope, no chance of that. First it was the health nurse visitation day. She came at 10am to do the 8 month cevelopmental check up on Hadi Johan and everything was fine there. She brought a student nurse along with her this time. We stayed and chatted for more than an hour.
When she finally leave, I thought maybe now is the chance for me to catch forty winks but nope. I got a phone call from my indonesian friend Kristina. She has nobody to look after her son while she work so I offered help to a friend in need. So she came over and hour before she was supposed to work but stayed over an hour underneath my duvet cover saying that she has tummy ache and has to lie down. She went to work late and her 2 year old son has finished emptying all the toy boxes and all the plush toys of their shelves onto the floor. I had to tidy up and was pretty tired. I had loads of washing to do and cleaning but not able to finish them all.
Then at 4.45pm, Danial came home with an answer to my prayer. We have got a new careworker to help out in the house and with Danial. Wonderful!!! She is 52years old so it should not be a problem for her dealing with small children and household routines. She was worried if we might not agree to hiring her due to her age. I ease her mind saying that any help is welcome to us who need it badly. She was really kind actually. Even though it was the first time and first day in our house, she managed to show me that she is a fast and yet efficient worker. She is a very nice lady too. I saw that she was very tired when it was almost 8pm and even though my kids were still up and screaming then, I send her home before she got more distress. She was overcome with emotion. She said she could not understand how did I manage to cope everyday. She could see that I have too much to handle on my own and she really feel sorry for me. Before she leave, she give me a hug and kiss me on my cheek and said "I love you, I really do". I am not sure how to react to that actually. I just smiled and said thank you. So she will come tomorrow at 6pm to work but before that, she will come at 11am tomorrow.
I invited her and another one of Danial's careworker to come to sit in with us for a session with an expert in autism who have cared for many children with special needs. I arranged for this expert to come to visit me tomorrow at 11am so I could find out more on how to deal with Danial and view other options if there are any, hopefully. So I am quite nervous actually. Hope I will get positive answers to my questions.

You Know You're Malaysian When....
You complain about the quality of the pirated DVD you just purchased. "What, RM10 for DVD5?! Aiyah, boss ... sound no good, cheaperlah ..." You're willing to consume sambal petai and durian and gladly suffer the bloating and wind-breaking incidents. You're exceedingly polite to the Mat Sallehs but you slag your own kind. "Hello, sir. Why don't you sit here, it?s got the best view of the city skyline." But, "Aunty-ah, your table is over there next to the kitchen." You order Maggi goreng and fried chicken, complain about how oily the food is, and then proceed to finish it anyway. You love to talk about food. You're already thinking about what to have for dinner while eating lunch. "I'm stuffed. What shall we have for dinner?" You dive into a communal-style meal the moment the dish lands on the table only to hesitate at the last morsel of food on the serving dish. There are two possible explanations for this: the first is the pai seh (embarrassed) factor, while the other is the myth that the person who eats the last piece will be a spinster. You hit the accelerator the moment the first drop of rain hits your windshield. "Alamak, it's going to rain. Sure traffic jam one. I'd better drive faster." You seize the opportunity to make a U-turn anywhere ... especially where there is a sign telling you not to. Well, so long as the cops aren't in sight. You feel a burning desire to send text messages and even have the gall to give your friend a blow-by-blow account of the movie to your friend on the handphone ? during the screening of the movie. "Okay, now that girl Lizzie is impersonating an Italian singer; she so doesn?t look Italian ..." You forsake your loved ones for the all-important four letter-word: S-A-L-E. "Sorry, mum, I can't take you to Aunt Mary?s because I have to go to MidValley before the crowd." You?re also more than happy to be part of the insane traffic jam that forms around malls during weekends and sale periods. 11. Reality shows Akademi Fantasia and Malaysian Idol dictate your social life. "What, no TV at the mamak? Count me out ? I'm staying home. Rinie needs my support." You pepper every sentence with lah. "No-lah, I can't see you today-lah. I have to study-lah. You know-lah, the prison warden aka mak is watching me like a hawk" You fail to function normally without your daily dose of teh tarik and nasi lemak. You have owned at least one Proton in your lifetime. Cheap, cheap. That is until you start to make enough dough to buy that Honda you've been salivating over. You slow down at an accident site to take down the car number plate, but won't step out of your car to help ? the victim could be a robber! You'd rather park your car along the main road outside the mall, where there's a yellow line, rather than pay RM1 to park inside where there are adequate bays. You plead, bat your eyelids and relate a sob story to the officer at the town council office to let you off the hook (or reduce the amount considerably) for the fine you incurred when you parked your car on the double line. You make an appointment for 10am and conveniently show up a half hour late ? Malaysian time, what ... You pop open the wet tissue packet at the Chinese restaurant by squeezing the trapped air to the top of the packet before proceeding to smash your fist into it. The louder the pop the better. You greet your friend / neighbor / acquaintance on the street with "How are things?" or "Have you eaten?" or better yet, by stating the obvious: "Went to market ah?" Ramlee burger is the "piece de resistance" of your growing-up-years cuisine. You catch all major televised events at the mamak. You have roughly six meals a day (breakfast, mid-morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper). Then there's the snacking ? keropok ikan, pisang goreng, muruku, jam tarts and the like. You get the whole family dressed to the nines, jump into the car and head for the minister's open house ? and ask for styrofoam boxes and plastic bags to tar pau food. Your accent and language style vary according to the race of the person you are conversing with. You've got a friendly disposition. Smiles are abundant and your "Apa khabar?" is warm and sincere. You exclaim loudly how expensive everything is, even though the items may in fact be going for a steal. "Wah! So expensive, ah? Hak sei ngor (Scare me to death)!" You dig deep into your pockets to contribute to the latest appeal for donations in the newspapers. You "dis" our country all the time, but as soon as something good happens (like winning the Thomas Cup), you morph into a proud Malaysian/Singaporean bcoz I'm permanent resident both country You never travel abroad without a bottle of chilli sauce, or sachets which you can sneak into restaurants. You're proud to be Malaysian - and you pass these jokes on to all your Malaysian friends!

You Know You're Indian When....
Your dad is some sort of engineer or doctor. Your parents say, "Don't forget your heritage." You know what's going to happen in every Hindi movie before it happens You're father and grandfathers have hair on their ears An Asian woman comes on campus and people ask: "Is that your mother? Well then, is it your sister?" Your relatives' houses smell like incense, mothballs or both Your parents say, "Calculus? I took calculus in 8th grade!!" You either really, really want to go to NYU or really, really want to stay away from it "You want a stereo! When I was your age, I didn't even have shoes!" Your dad still pulls his socks up to his knees, you know, the ones with the blue and pink stripes at the top. Your family owns a tennis racquet. You buy corn oil by the gallon. Your family owns butcher knives bigger than your head. You arrive one or two hours late to a party and think it's normal. Everyone in your family has pet names, which sound nowhere close to their real names. You are standing next to the two largest suitcases at the Airport. You talk for an hour at the front door when leaving someone's house. When your parents meet strangers and talk for a few minutes, you discover you're talking to a distant cousin. Your parents don't realize phone connections to foreign countries have improved in the last two decades, and still scream at the top of their lungs when making long distance calls. There is a sale on any item, you buy 100 of them. You have a 'Singer Brother' sewing machine at home. Your mother has a minor disagreement with her (or your dad's) sister and doesn't talk to her for ten years. You hide everything from your parents. Your mother does everything for you if you are male. You do all the housework and cooking if you are female. Your relatives alone could populate a small city. Everyone is a family friend. You know no one who has studied music. You went to a university as far away from home as possible. You still came back home to live with your parents after you had finished. Your best friend got married at the age of 16. You like the meat well done. You eat onions with everything. You use chilli sauce instead of tomato ketchup. You say you hate Indian films but secretly watch them with your parents. You teach Westerners swearwords in your language. You order Indian food in your own language to impress the people you're with but the waiters don't understand you. You avoid public places when with a member of the opposite sex, especially if there is an acquaintance within a 250 miles radius. You always say "open the light" instead of "turn the light on". You secure your baggage with a rope. You're walking out of customs with your trolley at the airport and you see all twenty-five members of your family who have come to pick you up. You go back to your parents' country and people treat you like a member of...the royal family. You're parents would freak out if your sister wore a crop top baring her midriff...but wearing a sari is perfectly acceptable except we don't wear sari. Your parents call all your friends "Beta" whether they are Indian or not Your parent are panicking if you aren't married when you turn 25 turn 18 in my case Either you really like Indians of the opposite sex or you can't stand them Your mother measures wealth in gold and diamonds A horoscope must decide your wedding date Your parents drink 6 cups of tea a day You are sick and tired of answering questions about "the dot" Your friends could not explain your religion to someone if they tried You could not explain your religion to someone if you tried You have cousins you have never met, whose names you don't know, but who insist they're related to you, even though they bear NO resemblance to...anyone YOU know. Your parents push the concept of an arranged marriage on you and try and demonstrate how well it works whenever they're not fighting. You notice that whenever you go to another Indian's house, your parents always talk about work and business. The second you pull out of someone's driveway, your parents start talking...about them. Every few months your parents say when they're moving back to India No one ever seems to call ahead of time to say they are coming over for a visit. You're proud to be Indian - and you pass these jokes on to all your Indian friends!
I have done mine in bold and purple but added the green on some
I send an application for a part-time job from 9am to 1pm yesterday and hopefully I will get it. It is not a nursing job as at this time in my life, I want something that I don't have to be responsible for. I have enough of responsibilities and sometimes I just want something that I can just do and if it is not finish, I can just go home as it is time to go...........know what I mean?? Besides, this would mean I will have some pocket money to buy things for my children if they ask for it or save a bit for a trip to Singapore in the future. God knows when. I still hope I will have a chance to visit my friends that I left behind and also my sisters and their children that keep on growing. My heart aches when I think about how long I have been here without seeing Singapore at all. I hope I'll get a chance to travel again before the fear of travelling control my emotion and way of thinking.
Now I am having wishful thinking.........angan angan Mat Jenin pulak ni. Belum dapat kerja dah berangan apa nak buat dengan duit. Pulaktu gajinya bukan berapa lumayan kerana waktu kerja cuma empat jam sehari. Bayar tax aje kat sini 49%.

update again
Well, I have been neglecting my entries to my blogsite now. I do feel guilty but I must admit that my mind have been kind of blank lately. I have no idea what to write about. Speaking of “I have no idea”, I rarely use this sentence actually. I remember my 2nd year nursing school tutor Mrs. Kim. She forbid us from using this “forbidden” sentence and it stuck to me throughout. I even preach it to my children and husband and my sisters back then.
Anyway, I feel that it is only right that I give an update of a few things.
My “knitting club” was cancelled last Wednesday as one of the mothers’ son had chicken pox. So I end up staying at home but that was okay with me as my children was so hyped-up with energy that night that I felt sorry leaving my husband behind to cope with them.
I invited Sharon over on Friday to bake cakes for Jana Maria’s birthday celebration on Saturday. She came at 1pm and stayed till 5pm but meet up again at 9pm to watch movie together. We ended up watching “Skeleton Key” even though I told myself that I would never make myself watch another horror movie again. You see, Putri and Kristina (my two indonesian friends) had asked me to go out with them on Friday night to watch movie but I said I am afraid but then I end up watching with Sharon and this made me feel so bad. Lucky they don’t know it and what you don’t know, won’t hurt you right??
Sharon had to come back to my house after the movie as her husband had the key to their apartment and he went visiting some friends. So she stayed until almost 2am before her husband finally called her to ask her to walk out of the house as he parked up the hill 100metre away from our house. Poor Sharon! So I vow that I will make sure she don't feel so lonely on her own (if I can help it)when her husband is working or goes visiting friends. Another one of my friends is Kristina. Her husband bully her. Today, while visiting me, her husband called on her cellphone but she hurried to his call even before she answer the call... she know what his statement would be...”I have no time for this!”. That’s what he always say the first thing she answer her cellphone. I mean what kind of husband is that?? I will not let these men bully our asian friends!!
Yes, on Saturday, we finally have a celebration for Jana Maria’s 3rd year birthday as she just cannot stop talking about it. We thought that by celebrating it, she will get closure. However, the next day (Sunday) when I asked her if she liked her birthday party yesterday, she paused 2 seconds before replying, “Tit hava ikki syngja Happy Birthday fyri meg”, “heldur ikki Rannvá”. That means......you guys have not sing the happy birthday song for me. Oh dear me.... I have been singing that song to her in July, August and now it’s September. So I promised her that next year, when she is four, she can invite her daycare friends of her choice and we will make all the guests sing the birthday song and she can blow candles on her birthday cake. You see, it is not tradition here to blow out candles or sing a birthday song for the birthday girl in the Faroe Islands. Much as I’ve tried, after 6 years, it dawned on me that this tradition is not ready yet to be preached to the people here. They know of it but they would not hear of it over here.
Anyway, I feel that it is only right that I give an update of a few things.

Small world
How weird it was. I wrote about Sharon and her husband early Sunday morning and then a phone call at 3pm. She said they are coming over for a visit. So there they are at 4pm! I think I should just write in my blog and then things start happening.
Sharon is an assistant nurse so we can talk many nursing stuffs when we sat down. Her husband Ivan are crazy about football so that matches my husband’s obsessions with sports. They can talk for ages about football teams.
I found out that this is a small world indeed after talking to Sharon. You see, they use to live in the same neighbourhood as we used to live when we were growing up.......the old naval base area. Then they move to Marsiling and we moved there too. Then they moved again to Yishun.
Now I am married to a faroese man and she married one too. She was working in SGH and I was there too. Now, I also found out that she went to the same Primary School that my third sister went to, and they are born in the same year. So, the question in now, were they both in the same class then? That’s what I would like to know from my sister Zohrah as Sharon Rose cannot remember now. Isn’t it a small world????

blog gundoo
I think I should update everyone on what I have been doing. You deserve that. You see, when I first started out this blog, I have neither head nor tail of what it is all about. And to tell you the truth, I still have no idea what it is all about especially when I read and study so many other blogs. I envy those who can go on and on and never run out of topics or ideas or new things to post. Why they even have fancy links, nice fancy motifs and fancy background and “pages that can be turn”! I mean, that’s great but how do I make mine like that? I thought that since my post topic are usually so mundane and ordinary or (sad to say) boring and uninteresting, maybe I can make it look more interesting....but no...I am not gifted in that department either as you all can well see by now (not fishing for compliment so don’t do that).
Regarding that update I talk about. Remember my dollhouse?? Yes, that pink one. It look exactly as in the picture that I posted about a couple of months ago. I still like it a lot and think of it almost everyday. Thinking about when can I start on it again. I met some of my “bindiklub” girls (knitting club) yesterday and one of them ask me “so what have you been knitting lately?”. I was ashamed to give her my reply which is “No, I have not done any knitting since I came home with Hadi Johan!”. I remembered while staying in the hospital, I knitted two sweaters but did not start on the arm so that is what I am left with now. Just two sweaters with no arms. Now we will start with our knitting circle again as it is autumn. We usually have a break in the spring and summer. So excited to meet up again this Wednesday night.
By the way, remember the singaporean girl who got married to a faroese man? No, not me, I am not a singaporean, never has been, the other indian girl. A true indian unlike me, I am “rojak” (rojak is a malay word for a type of mix vegetable salad with roasted sesame , chilli and peanut sauce). This girl, it is like she has disappeared into thin air. Both she and her husband have not been sighted in this little community! I did call her once a week after her wedding but she said she was busy and will call me soon and she has no telephone connection or internet yet. Hmm........I wonder how they are doing now. Maybe she wasn’t as lonely as I was when I first come here 6 years ago.

Niklas turn 1
I just came back from Niklas, birthday. It’s his first. First I drop Jana Maria at 3pm, then I come upstairs and sweat it out with preparing Dánial and put Hadi Johan to sleep. So we were there for quite a while as you can see now is 5.15pm. I must say Dánial impressed me. It has been a long time since I was able to bring him to visit anybody. He was pretty docile today. Easy for me to handle as Jana Maria was too busy eating the sweets off the top of the cake and playing with her cousins and her cousins’ cousins.

Emma's Blues Band
It was a fun-filled day for Jana Maria today. It was a barbeque in the backyard day for all parents and staffs of the daycare centre called "Lítliskóg". All the parents has to do was bring their own sausage, chicken, fish, burger or whatever they want to barbeque. I brought special marinated beef, mushroom and bell pepper marinated in olive oil, salt and pepper. It tasted so good. Everything else is provided for. The daycare centre staffs provide the refreshments, salad, bread, cakes and dipping sauces. They also provide the cutlery, cups and plates, and everything else. They even provide entertainment! The singer's name is Emma. She has down syndrome but is so proud of her band called, Emma's blues band. The music is provided by our neighbour Jóanes. He and another neighbour of mine Árni and Marner (twins) were the one who formed this band and wrote all their songs. They also had to play the instrument in tune with the singer's voice. All the children we so happy when they hear the band's famous song filled the air........"Baaboo baaboo baaboo.....Bilar koyra bilar koyra baaboo!... baaboo! baaboo! baaboo!". This is how the ambulance sound in the faroe islands you see. bilar means car and koyra means driving. Dánial was with the stuðul so it was me and Jana Maria with everybody else. Most parents took day off to spent time with their kids but my hubby would rather work and insist that I must go with Hadi Johan (who is still not feeling so well) and grill those meat! At first I look like the odd one out alone with a girl and a baby. How on earth can I leave my baby alone and go grill some food for Jana Maria. But then throngs of people started flowing in and I got drwoned out by all these people so it wasn't so conspicuous for me anymore. Not so many eyes focusing on me anymore then. phew!
Jana Maria really enjoy herself being with me there. My hubby pick us up at 4.45pm just in time to drive us to the hospital next for Dánial's appointment with the neurologist. He is such a kind and charming doctor. You see, he has cerebral palsy himself but he managed to climb up so high as a Chief Medical Neurology and open his own rehabilitation and training centre for the trauma and multihandicapped victims. He is shorter than I am and has is weak on the right side of the body and limbs, slurred speech but very brilliant! We have been seeing him regularly twice a year.

ok now
I have not been updating as I had been sick but now I am much better. Having said that........I am very much occupied most of my time now as it is the end of the week. Danial will be seeing his neurologist today at 5pm and Jana Maria’s daycare is organising a barbeque party today at 3.30pm. Thus I have to be at this too place and wonder how to do it.
