Think I'm ready.............or not, maybe?

Got my package today. I ordered from Amazon.co.uk some nursing books so I could refresh myself after the seven years gap from nursing. There were four books altogether but I strongly recommend "Haemodynamic Monitoring Made Easy" by Jayne A. D. Fawcett (2006) from Elsevier to critical care nurses or perhaps those who thirst for more.

Anyway, I am happy with what I see so far in my drug doses and calculation book, nursing skills and procedures book and monitoring the critically ill patient book. I couldn't afford to buy more yet so they are on my wish list with Amazon.co.uk. I hope to buy them in March if I get a job by then.

Opened the mail box at 12noon today and there was a letter from the hospital confirming they have received my application as a nurse for the newly opened surgical department! and will start processing it.

Now that's a joke. I did apply for a position as a staff nurse in the general ward. However, I did not indicate which discipline I would like to apply in. BUT I did explain that "I would prefer to work within cardiology medicine as I have experience and knowledge in this field". I also mention that I used to work in CVM department in Singapore and describe different diagnosis of patients and treatments which nurses do overthere and that I have critical care nursing background and experience in coronary care unit.

Well, I guess not easy for them to read the two paragraph in my resume about past work experience. Anyway, I'll consider myself lucky if they take me in now since I will be asking for part time or maybe just a third of the normal working hours. Family commitment come first to me you see. They either take me on my terms or take someone else. I have been at home for 7 years now, what's a few more months if they don't accept now right??

sent

Well, hope so. Hubby just confirmed that he got my letter in his car still. I am supposed to send another resume remember? I did that and it is supposed to be in the Human Resource department before 22nd January. Let's hope it reach there in time. He promised he will send it today since I am stuck at home with 2 sick kids, I cannot go anywhere right?

On a separate note, I wonder why my 3rd sis is acting weird in her blog??

small cloud hanging over me

Writing another resume again now. This time for general ward. I am not too sure myself now what to do or where I'll go. One thing is for sure, I will not want to work in a place where the leader is muddleheaded and indecisive. So I will be applying somewhere else. Wish me luck again girls!

What will monday bring to me

I am excited, nervous, edgy.........sleepless
Wonder what will monday bring me. What is going to be the answer. Is it going to be "sorry" or is it going to be "maybe" or is it going to be "okie dokie". Do I have to start writing resume again for another post? I know I'll not stop trying that's for sure. Just that I have to know do I do it right away or wait and give them a chance. Who's going to give me a chance??I hate this hard to get game. I am too straightforward a person to play this game.

who is confused? me or her??

Was called in to the hospital today for a "half interview". It was half due to the fact that it wasn't a deciding factor yet plus the fact that the other person who should be present wasn't present as she happen to have a day off. Hmmm.............this doesn't look good does it?

I am worried now. Not sure how to take in what just happened today. I talked to different department and get conflicting advice. Weird to me. At one point, it was even suggested to me that I should actually join the nursing student in their last semester for 6 months, at one point to go unpaid for 6months and then suggested to me to work as a homehelper just to get into the system. It was pretty confusing. Why can't they just give me a straightforward answer? People around here never do I think. I probed and digged and asked and sweat and yet in the end, I got this...."I shall investigate and get back to you on monday and I am going to try everything I can to help you"......errr..........help me?? get me the job! that's helping me.

Happy New Year

Wish all of you a very Happy New Year!
How have you celebrated the coming of this new year? I wonder. There were so many different ways over here. Some have a big bash. Spent almost all their savings, what's left from the christmas or more. Some have a mellow one, they open a bottle of champagne and invite some friends over to have a light supper. Some just went to the highest spot to watch the fireworks while enjpying beers with friends and families.

As for me, I just spend it like any other day. Only difference is I have baked cakes and buns ready for any guests that will turn up. I have hot chocolate ready and made coffee and tea and set the table, lightings, clementines, chocolates and sweets in pretty dishes. As my mother in-law is staying with us, people tend to come in to wish her and us (since we are there) a Happy New Year. So that is why I have to make this every single year. People do come in. They sat down for say 5-10mins. And that's it. Cleaning up for me before sleep.
