stress free day

Yesterday, I went to shop for some new yarn. It is going to be for me next. I just finished a bright pink vest for Jana Maria. I love the colour combination that I chose so I thought I might as well pick the same colour for me but when I enter the shop, I feel like a small little girl in a candy shop. I wanted it all. There were bountiful of lovely yarn, glorious yarn. It was tough making a choice for me but I managed to in the end. I settled for a yarn by Marks & Katten (multi mohair) and it is going to be a sweater.

After shopping, I went home to get properly attired (I was only wearing my summer jacket on that freezing cold day), drop my shopping, packed up antiseptic solution, emla cream and a pair of gold earstuds. Picked up my daughter from the daycare at 2pm, apply apply apply, then went for long stroll towards the new shopping centre, Miðlon. Meet up with Stella (my ex-Sri Lankan recently faroese citizen friend) and exchanged family news over cup of tea. My daughter was easily bribed with some ice-creams and coloured crayons (for drawing ofcourse! err.....not with ice-cream).
Then we went to get her ear pierced. My hubby was not ready for this but I know my daughter is. I explained to her that she will feel some degree of pain etc..f.ex"you have to pay for the price of beauty" and stuff like that too. Well, she was so ready for it that when the time come, she didn't feel the pain at all. In fact, an hour after that as we sat down at the same cafeteria for her next "bribed", she asked me, "Mommy, when will the pain come? Is it going to be now or later?". Aww....my cute girl. I didn't know whether to laugh then or to explore the topic further with her.

speed service

Yesterday, Danial went for a urine dipstick test.......nad.
what a relief. The doctor suspected diabetes at first you see.
Today he went for a series of blood test to check kidney and liver function as well as therapeutic level of Na.Valproate.

Guess what, I ordered some nursing books through amazon uk on 27th March. Lo and behold! I received it yesterday 28th March!!! Talk about speed.........this is indeed quality service! This is for real. Nobody believe me at home, they thought I got the date mixed up until I show them the invoice. They were speechless.
You see, if you live in the Faroe Islands, nobody ever get better service like this. Stuff ordered overseas especially, takes minimum 10days to reach. Usually about 3-8weeks. Guess yesterday was my lucky day!

I spoke to this little guy today at 1300hrs our time (2000hrs Singapore time). All he was interested in was what did I eat today?? Sorry can't send some over to you Adam.
I finally got my skype to work. I was put off using it before because my mom hardly understand a word I say but now it is a different story. By talking to her, I realized that she grasp every word I utter today. So that's good. We conversed for 34minutes before I had to "make a deposit" in nature's bank. Next time mom.
Begum.........do something about hang punya bilik tidur. Lepas tu, hantar gambar kat kakak so kakak boleh tengok perubahan. you know, before and after. sort of like a project for you. ok??

Danial's news

Well, I do not think things are going on okay with my older son. He is getting frequent seizures for the past 2days. Even though he get these tiny, short seizures on a daily basis, it was not as many times as today. Used to be about twice or thrice daily but now it is about 15 times a day.
I am definitely going to call the pædiatrician tomorrow and hope he reply immediately. He usually get back to us after 2 weeks of us trying to contact him.

job news

I called up the Principal in the school of nursing here and met her at the agreed time and we had a real good chat. Things are looking way better now. Especially after talking to her. You see, when I explained to her the problem I was faced with, she picked up the phone and settled it directly with the nurse leader who once told me that the hospital has some problems with resources. Through the principal, she clarified with me that I am getting an offer to work soon for period of 6months. It was just that they were working out a plan on how to go about doing it right. So that should be good. The principal assured me that is going to be anyday soon.
However, I did notice that she wrote down 11th April as a date for their next meeting to discuss on this issue. So I guess their soon is not my kind of soon but still I am hopeful.

idiotic

How would you react?

This morning, I received a phonecall from an idiotic lady who work in a neurology clinic. I knew she work there as I check the number on the internet after the call.
She identified herself as the receptionist and requested that she speak to Sanna.

idiot: Can I speak to Sanna?
me: No one by that name live here. Maybe you got the wrong number

idiot: Sanna á Krákusteini??
me: ohh.....you definitely got the wrong number. we are the krakusteini but that Sanna I don't know.

idiot: Elsebett Sanna á Krákusteini, can I speak to her?
me: I am afraid you cannot as she do not llive here but yes I recognize that name. We just say hello when we meet in town. Not a close contact at all.

idiot: I have to speak to Elsebett Sanna, can you please give me her cellphone number then?
me: listen, she do not live here and we do not know her number.

idiot: I must speak to her, she put this number (she repeat my house telephone number) down as contact number.
me: well, I don't understand why since she has never lived here before or visited us.

idiot: well, I really have to talk to her and you must give me her phone number now.
me: I don't know her number, sorry.

idiot: listen, you really must give the number to me or her cellphone number, I got to talk to her urgently.
me: how can I when I don't know it.

idiot: who are you? who am I speaking to
me: Zaiton also known as Zia á Krákusteini

idiot: Let me talk to your husband
me: Well, he is not at home now. Who am I speaking to by the way?

idiot: I told you before, just let me talk to your husband now or else just give me Sanna's cellphone number.
me: hmm, I think I should call the police now because you are harassing me even after I told you I don't know it.

idiot: shut up and just let me talk to your husband or give me the phone number that I want.
me: (in english now and loud) STOP HARASSING ME OR I CALL THE POLICE!

idiot: Shut up! (in faroese the whole conversation)
hang up.........

That bloody idiotic moron of a nincompoop! I was so pissed off that I really want to give a call to the police but then I know what they would do. The would just laugh their head off.
I went on the internet instead to search for Elsebett Sanna's phone but couldn't find any but found her brother's number. Since I couldn't just call her brother, to ask for her number to tell her about this woman who look for her through our house, my anger dissipates.

By the way, Elsebett Sanna is actually my husband's cousin from his father side. My husband is not close to his cousins from his father side at all.

So, why on earth would anyone from a doctor's office would call the cousin of a patient if they urgently want to speak to that patient when a sibling is around alive and kicking?? or mom for that matter. I simply cannot comprehend this situation today. Her mom, brother, husband, daughter and sons are all alive and kicking and that idiot call me????

Six

We waited and waited and waited, by the time it was 5:45pm, we decided we should start the party without the guests. How I hate when people say they "will definitely turn up" and then never even bother to give a call when we do not see any sign of nose or tail! Anyway, his Godmother Annie and her mother came at 6pm. Annie actually have to be somewhere and I told her that she do not have to come today if she has made prior engagement but lucky for me she turn up anyway with her mom so that was very nice. Then at 7pm my friend Lisette from Peru turn up with her husband and children so that was even better. Now the party is starting to look like a party. As for the rest of the people..................No idea. My brother in-law who lives downstairs manage to come up for 15mins before disappearing downstairs. His girlfriend did not come despite the promise of a definite show up. They are both his Godparent. The other brother in-law and wife who also happen to be his Godparent are a total no show, no call either.

Well, next year my invitation list will be very limited to only a few FRIENDS ONLY. Of which 2 family of friends will be strike out as they were a "no show no call" either. Relatives only take you for granted but friends understand the importance of being a good company.

I don't even feel tired because I had a good time today with the guests that came. Lisette and her family left just after midnight and it was great. We had fun chatting and eating. I reheat over and over again so we had many rounds of the hot dishes as well as cakes. My hubby had to leave early as he had to go back to work so that leave me with the washing up and cleaning out but that was not a problem at all for me as the company tonight was really good, kept my spirit up so one does not feel tired in situation like this.

By the way, the birthday boy................fell asleep before his medicine was administered to him. While the rest of the children was jumping on the trampoline, swinging on the hammock in his bedroom all the time screaming and shouting, he just pull his duvet and curled up in his bed sleeping.

Tomorrow

Dánial is going to be 6 years old tomorrow. I am so looking forward to it as I have prepared a few dishes and baked some cakes today. Finally I got a chance to sit down. The dining room has been dusted and decorated. I just need to get fresh flowers tomorrow and more party treats to give to the little guests. Hope most of the invited guest will turn up.

It's been 7 + years. It is a long time. Into the eight year now. I wonder when I will be able to visit Singapore ever again. Since I step into Faroe Islands on 29th October 1999, I have not set foot in Singapore yet.
Now it just look more and more impossible. I really wish that I could win a lottery just to go home even if it's just for few days. I wonder when I will be able to see my mom and sisters one more time. Not to mention their expanding family members. Wonder if they think about me at all. I was the rebel daughter/sister that left to "tempat Jin bertendang" (that's what my mom and sis called this place since it is so remote, away from the rest of the "fast-paced" world).

taken on 17th March 2005

Hadi Johan looks exactly like Danial as a baby in this picture.
Jana Maria ransacked the fridge and ate all the carrots there is on that day!
Danial was very happy because he started seeing something on the Pooh bear table cloth. I declared him "no longer blind" that day.

Dánial's 6th Birthday

I just came back from lunch with my hubby at one of the local restaurant. No, that's not the costume we were wearing while being out today. Weather is too terrible to permit that. You see, I have an ulterior motive. I buy him lunch so that he will pay for my haircut n colour. The hair thing will cost him double of what I pay for our lunch you see. He knew something was up when I told him I him to dine with me today. In actual fact, it is an excuse to get away from the house as my MIL sisters are here visiting for 3 nights. Not in the mood to exchange stiff conversations with three 80+ years old women for many hours and having tea the whole #bloody# time. (excuse my language).

This picture was taken on Dánial's 4th birthday, 17th March 2005. Dánial Ísak will turn 6 this saturday the 17th March and I am excited about celebrating his birthday. It is probably due to the fact that I did not celebrate his birthday last year. It was a trying time for us. Too long a story to tell. Anyway, whether it is trying or not this year, I am still looking forward to making a big day out of his "day". I just hope the guest will not bring him easter eggs as a birthday present, that's for easter gift! How unimaginative of them!
I already bought a wok to make stir-fry noodles and chicken wings to serve the guest. I also plan to make beef in oyster sauce. Originally I planned to have another "masak lemak" dish with rice but my hubby think that will be too much. I am in agreement with him as my previous attempt to serve asian dishes to guest on birthday doesn't serve well. They end up not eating or complaining about how different our dishes are. Well, this time, I don't care. They have to learn about the way we celebrate in Singapore too. I learn and accepted their way, I insist they tolerate my way as it is only this once!

My thursday.

Yesterday, my MIL's sister and family came to visit. They did give me over an hour notice so I could cook up some lunch for them. I got everything ready. Menu was rice and chicken curry caucasian style ofcourse. As soon as it was 1pm, they arrived. Well, I got my day planned as well. Went downstairs right after they warned me at 1130am to arranged with my BIL's partner to go out walking. I wasn't in the mood for interrogation by MIL's sister.

It was a very nice walk actually. We end up shopping for some nice jewelleries and knitting stuffs. I know my hubby almost put a ban on me walking into any knitting shop but I had to this time. I need to knit a birthday present. In fact, I have to knit quite a few. I knitted a glittery hat for JM yesterday and J (her cousin living downstairs) wanted the same so I have to do for her too. Their 3rd cousin will turn 5 (before J in May followed by JM in July) this sunday so I got to do one for her as well. I'll probably do the same for next saturday's birthday's present as well. My friend's daughter this time.

I brought my knitting along to "knitting club" but there wasn't much knitting done last night as we were all distracted by the delicious spread our host had prepared. Plus we had interesting stuff to talk about you see......Pamela Anderson Playboy party scene with one of the faroese fashions stylist who happen to come from a very religious background and all.
Looking forward to our next bindiklub (knitting club).
