Well, girls...........
I had a wonderful birthday! Thanks for the well-wishes.
There were many guests turn up, and they all had enough food to eat so that makes me very contented. I am so happy to see so many people coming together and chatting merrily and enjoying the food. I remember my dad used to say the same. First he will complained about all the fuss but afterward he was really happy when all the food are finished and all the guests are contented. My hubby does the complaining or so says my MIL. She predicted that my hubby will be hiding in one corner or something like that when it is a birthday party because he never like having it. I do not believe it is so. Maybe when he was a little boy?
Anyway....
Yes my house was very clean. I had a very good help. Dánial's carer called me on friday night and offered to help with the cleaning of the house. She came at 1600hrs saturday and did all the vacuuming, washing, dusting, tidying, etc. She really got a heart made of gold! Bless her, she went home at 2330hrs. I got my mother-in law's brother's daughters to bring a cake along each with them. He had 3 daughters whom I befriended so that was 3 cakes. Another cake came from Dánial's ex-carer that I invited. We did 4cakes ourselves so there was more than enough to go around. I served freshly cut fruits on kebab stick, various cold cuts on rye bread, "skerpikjøt" (that's faroese specialty, they are crazy for this. It is actually cured lamb meat that undergo drying process by hanging during the autumn season), and my own samosas recipe which I made on saturday night from 9pm till 2am. I sat the whole time ofcourse while cooking and preparing the samosas. I got my hubby to pass me things the whole time.
On sunday, my hubby's cousin Lillie, called to see if I need help so I asked her to come an hour earlier to help me with the tea and coffee and setting the table. So I got plenty of help and I got to sit down most of the time entertaining my guests which was really nice. We had to do 2 sittings as we had only place for 12 adult at one time. There were 26 adult and 12 children all together that came. The other 7 families invited did not came.
Surprisingly, both my brother in-laws (the younger on lives downstairs in the basement with his 5 children and his girlfriend, the older one live 50metre away from us with his wife and youngest son.) and their families turn up! I know it is only because of the skerpikjøt and the cold cuts that we are serving. Otherwise, they usually try not to turn up at any of our birthdays except for 5 years ago when I did the same birthday party as yesterday.
We went to bed pretty late as the children were fully charged with all the sugar rich drinks and cakes.
Sorry no pictures, couldn't find the cameras.
Confusing...........no need any more explanation, just mean tears of the world in malay

space update
25th April was the flagday holiday for the faroese. So I had the kids at home for the whole day as their daycare centres are closed.
26th April was the day when I went for the job interview at 1000hrs.
Spoke to 5 interviewer at 1015hrs and exactly an hour later, the leader called me back to ask if I would be interested to work in their ICU. So guys, I am officially employed by the hospital now. I'll start 14th May 0800hrs. Worked one weekend a month, 12hrs saturday and 12hrs sunday. Other than that 32hrs per week in an 8hour shift work. Not bad!!!
So my birthday party this sunday will also be a celebration of me re-entering nursing!!
ps:hope my fractured ankle would have healed by then. I went for the interview on crutches and splint!

ironic
the irony of it!
When you want to work, no job available.
When you cannot work, job appears from out of nowhere, everywhere there is an opening and you are suddenly wanted!
Friday, the coronary care department called and ask when can I start
Today, the intensive care unit called and asked when I can start
On thursday (2 days from now) I will have an interview with one of the leader in the department above. Watchout for this space, I'll let you know after thursday!!

been and back
Well, I was wrong. Not afraid to admit it. I just don't want to think negative you see.
Today I went for x-ray and then down to the emergency department to wait for a doctor to review my x-ray. Imagine it took more than 3hours before the doctor came. It was only after I called my hubby down to meet me there and he started talking loudly and keep telling them non-stop that I have waited for so long that they called me in. Once in, the nurses and doctor were very nice actually. They were pleasant and helpful unlike what they seem when we were waiting outside.
There, the doctor point out to me where the fracture were. She was not sure what to do because it was under the humerus bone, the tip sort of crush. So I am using splint now. It has been 10days since it occurred so I'll have to see them again in 3weeks time for review and KIV repeat X-ray.
Back to crutches and with splint now. I guess my movie date with my friend Lisette and daughter Jana Maria have to be with those thing. We are planning to watch "MrBean". and either "Sunshine" or "Wild Hogs"

I give in
Friends and families have finally convinced me that I should go and see the doctor. I am pretty sure that there is no borken bones but to give make them shut up...........I am going to see the doctor today at 1430hrs. I could limp nowadays with no crutches so I would say recovery is fast for me but okay, for peace sake, I will go to shut them up.
1530hrs :-
Just came back from doctor, she thought it might be fractured somewhere so recommended me to go for X-ray. So tomorrow I am going to the hospital for X-ray lt ankle. I am still sure it is not broken. Doctor want me to sit with my left leg up all the time to promote healing. okay doc!
Let's see what else is there to knit. I think I've knitted like more than a dozen stuff since I fall down.

why now.
At 5:15pm yesterday, the handle to my oven door broke lose. Thus trapping my lasagne inside it. After half hour struggling to forcefully open the door and breaking the child-lock I freed the lasne and we all can have our dinner. But 5 mins after this.............I fell down the last 3 steps of stairs. Think my ankle is strain. It's swollen, hæmatoma and painful so I cannot put any weight on it. Not easy when one has to deal on a daily basis with 2year, 4 year and 6 year old at home. My 6 year old is more one year old as he love to be carried and he was so frustrated yesterday evening when I couldn't carry him or walk with him at all. He pulled my hair and sweater as we struggled up the stairs (I crawled on my knees, it's easier that way) not understanding why his mommy is shorter than him there.
Now we got a problem, my hubby has to attend 2 funerals. one is tomorrow and next in day after tomorrow. He can't bring the children (too young) so we have no idea how to do this. I can't walk at all. The kids keep on climbing up my legs non-stop especially the boys. I can't keep up with their demands. Why now it has to happen.
I just wish it will heal fast as I do not want to blow my chance of working if I don't accept it now.
Was so angry with myself yesterday for forgetting that last steps.
You see, my hubby was standing in front of me. As I know I am shorter that he is so I thought now this is the last step since I'm shorter than he is here and I step into the air, fell face forward, twisted my left ankle on the way down!

good news a coming my way
Today there is an art exhibition in the community school near my house. As I was feeling cooped up in the house nursing a bad flu, earache and chest infection (okay, I know I went out yesterday.....probably why my condition worsen. But the doctor checked me out yesterday and prescribed penicillin), I thought I better go and cheer myself up by viewing art pieces made by people who take time to study night classes during the winter.
We dragged Hadi Johan along as he was following behind us all the way to the school in his mud stained pants, Jana Maria's leather long boots, and snot stained face full of chocolate and mud again. So was his hands, it was BLACK!! What a funny sight to watch this little guy singing row row row your boat waddling in big sister's shoes trying to catch up with us.
Anyway, it was good that I dragged my sorry butt there. You see, I met a familiar face. She was the lady who half-interviewed me for the first time when I applied for work in the intensive care unit cum emergency department. So I said hello and made polite comments. She then asked me if I had received any phone call from their department. Bewildered, I said no as I thought I was going to get a general ward position. She explained that they want me in their emergency and intensive department. At that moment I actually wanted to shout out loud but kept my cool and thank her, pulled my hubby's hand toward the exit and head home. On the way, it was then that my jaw dropped and I jumped and squeal with delight!! Wow! I don't know if you can imagine what I feel but I am so so so grateful and glad and .......can't explain it. Thank God!!!
Good news really do come my way these days.
My youngest sister is pregnant again after 8 years!! Great!
